God bless you for loving your children properly. My parents also separated when I was 15 and divorced years later. If you've ever had the feeling that "something is wrong in/about your life" (I did too, for 51 years until I understood what that feeling was). Many children of divorce (or parental separation in childhood) suffer Depression into late adulthood and never understand why. It is simply the 'mystery' of WHY that feeling exists that cause that depression. The Depression is caused because our mind knows that we don't (our INABILITY) have a solid family heritage/lineage ('man without a country', we come from a family that doesn't exist) and we don't want to consciously/can't acknowledge what our mind knows (therefore can't establish our identity and say "I am who I am"). Now that you understand this, that feeling will stop (if you've ever realized that your mind feels this way, if you never did realize this, understand it anyway, it will help you in many ways, especially in understanding that you are offspring of "I am who I am" Exodus 3:14). You will become INTEGRAL (heart, mind, body, soul, conscience and spirit are 'one') and that God is INTEGRAL (all encompassing, "God is one", Galatians 3:20) and that scripture is also INTEGRAL (consistent, correctly understood, there are no inconsistencies in scripture).

"Soul" is actually the totality of our being (EVERYTHING that we are, who AND what we are), but the god of confusion doesn't want us to really understand CORRECTLY that we should be "SOLE" (complete, integral), so, through our FLESH ("natural limitations", Romans 6:29) we are taught that our "spirit" should be separate (and therefore we never become ONE), but the word of God (JESUS, who CREATED the world, Hebrews 11:3,...the word that we should live by) is a sword (sword of the spirit, Ephesians 6:17) that cuts deep and unites the two so we can become integral (ONE), Hebrews 4:12..."...piercing to the division of SOUL and SPIRIT".

The world rather understand that God is three SEPARATE (not integral) characters (even though God is one), but God is not three separate departments. There are three MANIFESTATIONS (gifts) of God to humanity:
Father (creation)
Son (salvation)
God's spirit (teaching)



We (humanity) are in the habit (why do you think nuns wear one?) of drawing CONCLUSIONS from scripture (God never told us to do that). There are no TYPES of love (common sense tells us that love is a single attitude), but we feel that it would be too uncomfortable to properly understand that agape, philos, eros and storge are types of love RELATIONSHIPS (not love itself). We find the proper understanding of God and scripture to be INCONVENIENT.

We refuse to understand that 1 Corinthians 13 (the LOVE chapter) is a heavenly statement of how life should be on earth, instead we feel more comfortable thinking that it is an earthly statement of how the afterlife will be.

So, how are we supposed to understand God (God is LOVE) if we insist on CONVENIENT understandings of scripture?

You don't NEED a degree (are you more concerned with the world's validation of you?) in order to become a valid human being (for a better job, OK), let The Lord validate you and become "ONE" with Him and His body.
