5gm iodine(dont leave it out in the iar or it will disappear into the air)
10mg potassium iodide
85ml distilled water

i have also heard 100ml of water. i dont think it matters much. you want the 2:1 ratio of KI to I2.

I2 is a metal looking substance and will take about 24 hours to dissolve in the water, as i understand it. i have the Iodine but have yet to acquire the KI.
