in order for the trees to be worth that kind of money, they have to be groomed and protected and it takes a long time. Black-Walnut farming is a long term commitment which includes harvesting the nuts and thinning the trees in the grove every so often until you achieve those big perfect hummers worth the big bucks. most trees that old in a city have nails and other things about them and in them that make them much less desirable.
