This is not so much a followup as it is a repeat with a twist of sorts. . Just today AP via CBS in Austin released their version of the same basic story Miss Kitty posted earlier this week. Not sure why the time lag but it is interesting to compare CBS' version today versus NBC's earlier.  A few things that stand out to me from the newer article that I did not get earlier:

1)  Bypassing the Legislature, Republican Gov. Rick Perry signed an order Friday making Texas the first state to require that schoolgirls get vaccinated against the sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer.

By issuing an executive order, Perry apparently sidesteps opposition in the Legislature from conservatives and parents' rights groups who fear such a requirement would condone premarital sex and interfere with the way parents raise their children.

It's bad enough that the white house has long been accustomed to the premise of "executive orders" and we the people subsequently accustomed to being quiet on the matter. FWIW, there is not much in the way of an actual, legitimate legal basis ........ a la constitutional basis, for these things called EOs. There is a perfectly good reason why there is virtually no constitutional basis for EOs; the founders were smart enough to provide measures to prevent this very thing " sidestepping the otherwise etched-in-stone legislative process.......hello!....anyone? The main premise for this breach is the land slide of de facto uses that have ensued often and repeatedly ever since Abe Lincoln was the first to issue an EO during the war of North versus South. I'm at least willing to give Abe some slack on his justification..... some, I mean, when the Southern states walked out of congress, he was affectively left without a congress, and the constitution did not include any instructions or advice or notes as to how a President may attempt to proceed with the semblance of a functioning government under such circumstances. But all these come along "me toos" ever since? No slack, not from me, anyway. Especially from Wilson, through fdr, straight on down the line through to the present, these men were despicable traitors who subverted the constitution left, right, often, and repeatedly. EOs by and large are an abomination, plain and simple, and should not be tolerated with the sweeping regularlity that is today hardly even questioned.

Perhaps EOs happening at the state level is something that's already common but has escaped my notice, but I do not recall EOs being done (IE> at the level of state of Texas, for instance) being a fixture heretofor. Is this yet something ELSE we have to look forward to with more regularity in the coming days? It's bad enough the Feds have been corrupting and thoroughly exploiting this fraud for decades.

2) Merck is bankrolling efforts to pass state laws across the country mandating Gardasil for girls as young as 11 or 12. It doubled its lobbying budget in Texas and has funneled money through Women in Government, an advocacy group made up of female state legislators around the country.

Perry has several ties to Merck and Women in Government. One of the drug company's three lobbyists in Texas is Mike Toomey, Perry's former chief of staff. His current chief of staff's mother-in-law, Texas Republican state Rep. Dianne White Delisi, is a state director for Women in Government.

The Merck connection was definitely made in NBC's version of this story, but it does stand out that CBS' version is much more specific in the leaving no doubt - Merck Bankrolls..... and  especially the "all in the family" connections to Merck through the governor's extended family through mariages.  My hunch is that there is another story hidden here. What it is? I dunno but there most likely there is a reason for CBS' to be more critical, and no, it's not because they have suddenly found integrity. First guess is, it may be a simple Liberal V Neocon thing, being that Perry is of the latter persuasion.

3) How much more in your face does it need to get, folks. Let's face it. It was not all that long ago that politicians and media would at least go to great effort to hide these kinds of details, like blatant direct connections between politicians (Perry) bowing to industry (Merck). Is anybody else noticing that it almost seems like that somewhere during the course of the past year or so, even the pretense is now pretty much gone..... as in, perhaps they feel they've finally got us all where they want us, so why should they even bother with the hassle of pretenses anymore.... who's to stop them, who's to get in their way at this point? Anyone?..... Bueller?..... anyone?

4) Lastly, not this newer article does provide a morsel of useful information telling that such mandates can be opted out.....if one happens to know the secret password, arcane handshake, pertinent papework, of course.
