On a slightly related note:

I walked from my house to the dentist's office today, and back. It is maybe 2 blocks away, tops. I have never done it before! It took 8 minutes of walking time, approx. 2 minutes of which was waiting for the one (and only) traffic light to change. I was there, had my teeth cleaned, and was back home in less than an hour.

It felt a little strange, though... just because we ONLY go places by car here where I live. (The dentist's office is pretty much the only place near my house, by the way).
