I've been conducting an experiment (I have no idea what I'm doing or looking for, though.)

And, actually, the experiment started out as an necessity (meaning, it's not like I planned it out in any way.)

Anyway, when I first started OPing I had read somewhere how toxic the pulled oil is ... and some advised not spitting down the sink or in a toilet ... and some said if I spit in the trash can it'd stink to high heaven ... (btw, I don't remember where I read all of this 'cause I googled OPing late into the night one night - so I'm not necessarily saying I got this info on here.)

SOOOOOOOOOO ... back to my so-called experiment:

I've been spitting my pulled/used coconut oil into a clean, quart-sized Mason Jar.

When I spit it in there it was clear, runny and bubbly. Then I'd notice later that it turned back into a beautiful, solid white (like coconut oil looks like.) But I'd still add my spittle to it every morning. Layers of bubbly spittle that eventually turned back into a pure, white solid. In fact, you couldn't tell it was used, yucky oil at all.

Well, as you can imagine, I began wondering if it was REALLY toxic. I mean, hey, it looked perfect. Even smelled perfect. But I left it alone.

Now we all know that fresh coconut oil is solid white, and if it reaches a certain temp it will melt into a clear liquid substance, but it will also form back into a solid once it cools back down. Well, I keep my fresh oil and my disposed oil in the same dark, climate-controlled pantry to maintain a solid consistency.

BUT ... guess what that used/disposed oil in my Mason jar looks like?

It finally began separating. It had layers of solid, and layers of clear slimy stuff.

I kept watching as days went by. The content was obviously breaking down ... fermenting? ... and, now, it is real slimy throughout... not smooth-liquid looking, but mucous-y looking. Within the past few days it has started growing tiny patches of mold stuff.

I'm just six weeks into my little experiment. Like I said, I have no idea what it's doing or what it means.

My biggest concern is "what do I do with it now that I've started this fiasco?"

I don't want to throw away my Mason jar (I'm an avid canner) ... but I don't know what in the world to do with all that gross stuff either.

Anyway, that's my ridiculous, "no-point-to-it" post for the day from Mama's house ... hope ya'll have a good weekend.
