I have been on kariva and spironolactone for one month now. This week I have noticed a huge change in facial hair. Although the hairs are still black and thick, they are now very sparse. Before, I could pluck all night and the next morning my chin & neck would be covered in stubble, like a man. I haven't plucked or shaved in 2 days now and there are only a few short hairs, too short to tweeze. Like I said, HUGE change. I have read that other people experienced a textural change in the hair, growing in thinner and blonder. We'll see. For now, I am very pleased with the results. I had tried Vaniqa for 4 months with little or no change in hair growth.
As for my acne, I have been on prednisone for a month and a half. Instantly I saw improvement with my face but the Acne on my neck, back and chest took a little longer to improve. The doctor took me off the prednisone today to see if I do well just on the kariva (mircette) and spiro.
Also on metformin 500mg/day but will ease off that eventually as I lose weight and insulin levels improve. Already have lost a few pounds without trying. I am confident I will lose more as I improve diet and start to exercise. Tried the flushes, coffee enemas and p&b shakes. Although they helped with my energy levels, the benefits to my skin were only marginal and temporary. They were no match for my hormonal eruptions and had no effect at all on the hair growth. I will still continue to flush/enema as it can only help things along. But much as I hate to admit it, the drugs and hormones are working, however I am going to try to use them as little as possible.
