WELL I do have a great suggestion for you. The American Dietic Diet...AKA exchange diet. REALLY!! Ever heard of it? They use this to treat diabetes and for some reason most people think it is the American DIABETIC diet...it is not. It's used for diabetic treatment because it groups food according to how you metabolize them rather than where they come from in the environment as the food pyramid does.
It is basically a balanced diet that also tells you serving sizes of each group. What you do is figure what calorie intake you will personally need and these "exchanges" or food group portions can be placed anywhere in the day that you need the most nutrience. It takes a little time. But you start with say a basic 1500 to 1800 which it sounds like you may need as you said you needed to lose weight?? (I would need a little more info from you to tell you exactly how many calories) Think about what times of the day you are most hungary....or least hungary....you then put the diet into play and after about 2 FAITHFUL weeks your body will start TELLING you what it needs (by that I mean it will tell EXACTLY what food it wants...ex: AN ORANGE..lol) and what TIME it wants it. At this point you "play" with the exchanges again....put things where your body says it needs them....so by about week 4 you are golden....never hungary...satisfied and you will begin to GRADUALLY loose weight and already you feel better and have more energy. Keep in mind that this is a very slow weight losing process....aboout 1-2 lbs per week. THEN at some point you will plateau (stop losing). If you continue NOT to lose for 2 weeks...this meanns you are at your ideal weight.....you may or may not think it is, but IT IS none the less. At that point your calorie intake should be increased slightly to maintain your body weight. This is the end of the process....of course if you have any major life changes, tramas, surgeries....it may need tweaking then, but this should be the way you eat for most of your life. Thing is by this point in the process, you will be SOO used to it that it is just a normal part of life.
I find it funny that we are SO stuck on junk food, because it really DOESN'T taste like you think it does. Turn your brain sensors back on with this diet and THEN try to eat a twinkie! It tastes like pure crisco! NO LIE!! :)
If you are interested in trying this I can help. Let me know, I'm willing to take you through the steps. I have had Type I Diabetes for 24 years and am an expert on this diet. I have had training several times and continue to go back to the dietician every few years for any new info (funny...it never changes...I go JUST INCASE...and for reminders)I also do nutrition training "on the side" at work ...I take care of developmentally disabled folks and chldren with mental illness in group home settings. I do the menus for the homes.
