Sorry, didn't mean to misquote you, obviously I meant to write "smoking is decreasing.  The studies I pointed to followed up on that concept.   So, while I misquoted you, you are still wrong in your assertion.

Smoking has decreased, and so has the incidence of lung cancer.   Naturally we expect the cancer rates to lag behind by several years.
