Tongue Analysis
Normal Tongue
A normal tongue has a thin, whitish coating (fur). The body of the tongue should appear pinkish-red. The tongue should be moist and full, but not plump or shriveled.
Tongue Color
Pale tongue: indicates Deficiency , Anemia
Treatment: tonify and build the blood (use yellow dock)
Red tongue: indicates Excess, Fever and infection
Treatment: sedate and “clear the heat” (use a anti-microbial herb)
Red tip: indicates stress on the heart
Treatment: “feed the heart” (use hawthorn berry)
Tongue coating:
Scant or absent coating: indicates a lack of vitality
Treatment: use tonic herbs (alfalfa and yellow dock)
White coating: indicates poor digestion
Treatment: digestive enzymes
Yellow coating indicates constipation
Treatment: Open the channels of elimination (nature-lax 2)
Tongue body
Swollen: indicates water retention
Treatment: Use diuretic herbs (juniper berry, burdock)
Thin: indicates Blood deficiency:
Treatment: Raw juice (carrot, spinach)
Quivering: indicates adrenal fatigue
Treatment: Licorice root, Schizandra
Scalloped edges: indicates kidney problems (in men this can also indicate prostrate conditions)
Treatment: Hydrangea, root juniper berry (and for men add Saw palmetto)
