I cannot believe it took curezone THIS LONG to send me a link to your replies!!
A lot has happened since that post.
Because the boy was going to be taken away from my daughter by the police and/or CPS, she sent him to live with her SISTER hundreds of miles away. Had Nothing, Zero, to do with Hep. They were being hounded by cops and authorities so my other daughter met up with this man's sister and my daughter, at 2am, brought him to her home--a childhood fantasy of a home. NO drugs, no smoking, no swearing, church attendance, new school, 100 acres of land, 2 st. bernard's, and my daughter LOVES this boy, now eight. He has karate lessons 3 times a week and starts counseling January first. He shares a bedroom with his cousin, 7; his female cousin, 4, has a room across the hall. My daughter is a nurse; her husband is a very hard working
self employed welder who kisses my grandson on the forehead and says I love you.
The whole family are cowboy types, college football players, great big guys, 3 brothers who adore one another. His mother asked him, "how would you like to come back and spend the whole summer with us?" and he goes, "er, um, I'd like to VISIT."
So she just calls him daily and she and her BF do the nightclub scene, no drinking, go to NA often and their own churches. But he had been a victim for his whole life
of going without food if her marriages or her BF's weren't working out, watching her violent temper, going without socks and sometimes underwear. Now he has a whole new wardrobe and has gained ten pounds. He is on her medical and dental plans.
He is thriving, has some unresolved anger and just spent five days with us with his cousin (I've been sleeping ever since)LOL Now all we can do is sit back and see if and when he EVER goes back to his mother, who he loves, but doesn't trust. I mean, both of them hocked his things ; he was very hurt and shocked by this. He had a new Gameboy and off it went to the pawn shop. He stole a pack of gum from a store about 3 weeks before he was taken to his aunt's to live and was running with a gang. I had no idea gangs had 8 year olds?? I never saw any of these kids; I was just told about them and their roach infested , small apartment. Now his mother, who cannot save money, is crashing with her high school girlfriend, her baby, the part time husband and this boyfriend with a history of prison and crack / heroin use. He has been clean for a couple months, far as I know. But I've heard that is a meaningless, short amount of time after 21 years of drugs. Happy Holidays All !!
