Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps that pdf can help and answer some questions about the basics for so many of those new to OP.
When I first visited
http://www.oilpulling.com,
they offered this booklet and some teasers. Of course, I got a copy of whatever the website offered. The booklet stayed available for downloading for some time. Every so often I would visit the site to see if any new info had been added. One day, I saw that several changes had been made, among which was the elimination of that pdf.
A frequently asked question on the forum is what oil to use. Rao reported, "Dr Karach had suggested refined sunflower Oil. Sesame Oil was prescribed in Ayurveda texts for OP. Both oils worked well in curing health problems. Some found sesame oil better. Other oils have been used by some practitioners on their own and they did not report desirable results to enable me to recommend. Some other oils may be suitable for particular problems but I do not recommend for daily practice."
Perhaps after a while, we can determine which oils are "suitable for particular problems.
Wombat, since you mentioned Udo Erasmus, his book FATS THAT HEAL FATS THAT KILL lists some of the ways oil is refined with chemicals. As you know, one of the refining chemicals some companies use is something akin to Drano. After reading that list, I know I do not want anything but unrefined, extra virgin oils in and on me.
Trapper, as you said, it is important to pull to the end. In line with that, Lt. Col. Rao also made a point to warn OP "sometimes, may cause severe unpleasant ‘healing reactions’ before cure."
