you can't patent capsaicin, so if someone wants to make a drug out of cayenne they will have to alter it somehow and delude people into thinking the altered version is superior to the natural version. besides, if you read the article carefully, it shows that even the capsaicin was only temporarily effective, so, while it would be a relief, it doesn't sound like a cure.
