there is 35 grams of salt in a liter of ocean water? sounds like a lot. thats over 23 teaspoons or almost 8 tablespoons. about a quarter of a cup, in fact.

one percent of a kilo is ten grams. a gram is one tenth of a percent of a kilo. its pretty obvious its not much salt. but is that right about ocean water? dang. whats the percentage of the great salt lake? the dead sea? interesting stuff.
