i have been on soo many different types of diets for the past years (though remaining on the warrior one meal a day diet) and i have eaten everything from rare/raw meats only to plenty of raw veggies/salads and lean meats to high fat/protein no carbs, lite veggies. On almost all of these extreme versions of eating, i have always been constipated. They all have their own theories like, more fibers,no carbs, no Sugar , no processed foods, carbs and protein don't mix etc.
almost every single one of these different eating regimines, i have always have had digestive disturbances. With the veggies and light proteins (lean) i became bloated and backed up with gas.with rare/raw meats only (no carbs, lite veggies), it digested way easier but it gave me tight binding pains in my gut.with meat only and high fat..you can already tell the effects i might have had.Well, i have been trying something different for the past week.I have added chili back into my diet,as well as steamed veggies and small salads.i have also began eating my steaks rare again.
low and behold, my digestive distress has gone away and i have had the largest most easy to pass BMs i have had in almost a full year.as long as i followed a certain pattern- meats first,a small salad, steamed veggies, then finishing of with carbs like chili or potatos.i have read that one should'nt mix protein and carbs- but i believe that the bulk & moisture in the carbs help digest the proteins better in terms of moving them along the digestive tract. It's kinda obvious i think though, protein is kinda dry even with the presence of fats- it's still a 'hard' food.
steamed veggies- hold water and moisture, plus it's mushy and soft- thus helping with the density and body of the BM.add carbs into the mix and it adds further bulk to the meal, plus i believe it acts like a shuttle to help 'pass it all through' as well.
i see it this way, combine hard foods with soft moist foods and everything will take care of itself in the gut.this is how i originaly ate,but i have ventured on and have tried different types of food combinations..in the end,i have come to discover that i was correct from the beggining in how i combined food (meats/fats,veggies,carbs)
(:
