I am skeptical about the claim that it is positive pulses of voltage or current that are beneficial. If you hold an electrode in each hand, one electrode can be considered positive with respect to the other, or one electrode can be considered negative with respect to the other. The Zapper may indeed work, but it doesn't seem that it is due to positive pulses.
