I checked into that book by 'Dr' Valnet and it seems that some of his concoctions are based on heresay and not testing.
Be careful with aromatherapy books or any books for that matter, make sure the author is well known in the field, like Tisserand.
Also the term 'essence' can have a broad meaning,
