Yes I agree with you, the intent is really what people have to stand on anyway.

That being said, I dont find a problem what others choose to celebrate, but for me personally I dont celebrate it.

I do celebrate, family and friends, I cherish family times, the sharing of food, the love of all people regardless of their religion and color or nationality, etc.
I think we all have to decide and not judge others.
