You are only deceiving yourself when you can not admit when you lost control (powerless) of a situation.
It is only when you can admit to yourself that you lost control (powerless) that you can take steps to change the situation and make your life manageable.

You do not have to be an alcoholic to apply these things in your life.
If you have never been man enough to admit to yourself that you were powerless over any situation, your blindness will never find a way around it. It is only then that you will gain a new power and confidence.
