I asked the Webmaster to add this site. I was wondering if anyone has used essential oils to help heal and balance the body. I have just started learning about this. Oils were used in the Bible to heal. Frankenscense and myrrh were a couple of biggies :).
Anyway I was just wondering if anyone is familiar with this or would like to learn more. I have tried using lavendar oil to relieve a headache. My dh pulled a shoulder muscle playing volleyball at scout camp (but it was for the championship and his team won :). I used an oil blend (that had wintergreen, clove and peppermint) on his shoulder for three days. It smells like flexall 454 but it is all natual and organic. His shoulder still hurts a little but it did not bruise. I use an oil called Peace and Calming in my home to help foster a feeling of calm in a house with 5 kids. My kids have asked me to rub this oil on their feet (similar to reflexology) before bedtime to help them sleep.
It all sounds a little new age to me since I am just learning about the power of theraputic oils. But I do know that they smell good and elevate my mood. There is a whole Science behind the sense of smell and well being. Lavendar smells so good but it also helps to relieve headache pain. Peppermint oil can help with an upset stomach. I had a cough last week and put one drop of peppermint oil in a small glass of water, drank it and my cough was gone within minutes.
I will post more as I have more experiences.
