The reason they are so expensive is that Amway is a MLM and MLMs always have notorious price mark-ups. I hear they grow their own nutrients, but I wouldn't bother with them. Most of Amway's profits come from distributors who are forced to make a minimum purchase every month.

Don't buy supplements from MLMs-- you just about always find a better and cheaper product on the market than the ones that MLMs offer.
