Hello Lori,
All the best to you and your son, and your whole family. Alijah is a beautiful name. It's the first one that came up when I looked at boys' names just now.
* Origin Hebrew- to ascend. *
I'm very happy to hear you had a midwife-tended home birth. I was just thinking about midwives and how I'd wish that home-birth experience on all women. They really care for the WHOLE of it-because they see and know the whole.
I've only had one birth, but it was wonderful--at home, with three (!!) midwives. In those days there was a big legal mess about doctors and midwives here in Canada. The doctor we had who worked with the midwives, ( a real saint ) was not legally able to help in any way with the birth. It was an attempt to wipe out midwifery through fear-mongering, and confine it to hospital assistance only--and that only after medical-model training. Long story, but I was going to have the birth at home anyway, much to the father's anxiety. Not so easy -or maybe quick is the better word- a labour as yours, but all good, in the end. I fully trusted to something bigger than all of us. I was blessed I believe, to NOT go to the hospital.
One midwife was in training, one the head midwife, and one in the middle. I feel very lucky -- and think of them as the three graces. With good wishes that your son sees his sisters this same way.! Lucky boy.
Love ( and rest!)
Alison
