I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who suffers from this condition. Although, I have had severe hives for only 5 months now. My allergist quit seeing me after 2 months. He had no clue how to treat me. I've taken every kind of antihistamine they make, I think. I am still taking Zyrtec and a H2 blocker (Tagament 300mg) with absolutely NO results. I'm scared to death not to take them, however, for fear of what my hives may become. I've seen allergists, ER doctors, and a rhematologist (specializes in arthritis!) I have also had diabetes for 14 yrs (since childhood) making it impossible to use steroids. Also, my regular doctor finally put me on Ativan (out of pity, I’m sure)!!

Out of all these "brilliant" minds I have found that my chiropractor is the only one who makes sense!!! He says that my liver is enlarged and is doing some heat therapy and UV light therapy. Oddly enough... the UV light has seemed to do the trick!! I've only seen him once and it was just a "what if" treatment. It turns out that on the small part of my body that he experimented the UV light is the place where I cannot see hives!!!

My medical docs are still in the middle of trying to find the cause of this “Idiopathic Urticaria” and has suggested that I see a group of specialists at a university hospital.

My questions are… Is this going to be worth it?… Has anyone tried laying in a tanning bed for these symptoms?… And, what kind of doctors are you seeing that have concluded that this is the type of treatment (benodite clay and phillium husk) that will work?

I AM desperate for some kind of answer.
