Hi, BlueHorizon.

What is your motivation for wanting to eat a vegetarian diet?
Ethics? Health? Any specifics?

Do you want to be vegan?

You can certainly successfully be a vegetarian or vegan without soy products. People here at curezone usually eat only small amounts of fermented soy, or avoid it altogether. It shouldn't be the staple of the diet. A little here and there should be okay, since you like it.

There are different viewpoints on health. This is a vegetarian support forum, certainly vegetarianism is promoted here for good health. And of course, we know that fruits and vegetables are healthy and should be the bulk of any healthy diet.

One of the big tendencies these days in the vegetarian community is to eat a lot of raw food. Some eat 100% raw, others 75%-85% raw. Also, juicing is frequently incorporated. Around Curezone, you can also learn about fruitarians, and about those people (vegetarians and non-vegetarians) who reduce or avoid grains.

There is another viewpoint that says that organic animal products such as meat and eggs not only can be included, but should be included in an optimal diet. It sounds like you may have come across this idea, too. In a way, it seems a little sad that you spent 5 years eating a breakfast that doesn't make you feel as good as another breakfast could have.

Only you can decide what you should do. It is up to you to read and study and experiment, to decide what diet would be the best for you.

In regards to your slender frame, this is actually considered to be healthier than a large, muscular "meaty" frame. You may think it is less than desireable, either in health or looks, but that is not true. You are made the way you are made. People are different. Why should a slender frame be perceived as any less than a hulking, muscle-bound frame? Certainly, some women prefer large, muscular guys, but others prefer slender ones. I myself must admit that I am attracted to very slender, or "skinny", if you will, men. Slim with lean muscle tone looks good!

About your triglycerides. There are different theories on heart disease, cholesterol, triglycerides, and good health. The theory that most doctors believe in is one that others have found to be completely false. Also, the diets they promote will actually cause disease. The whole lowfat, avoid saturated fat, eat canola, corn and soy oil propaganda is quite dangerous!

Do you eat coconut oil very much? If not, I think you would be interested in learning more and using this to assist you in several ways.

What I will do now is provide you with some links for you to pursue. They are of different natures, food for thought.

The Weston A. Price Foundation:

Particularly of interest to you might be the "Soy Alert!" category, there are several articles on soy. Also, the "Men's Health", "Know Your Fats," and "Modern Diseases."

Another good website is: http://www.mercola.com
You can do a search on any topic you want to read about.
He, too, has a lot of articles about soy (some of the articles are the same as the Weston A Price site):

You can read his nutrition plan, and read about coconut oil.

There is also some really good information on exercise. For example:

Most of this is written by Paul Chek, who has his own site:

There are vegan bodybuilders and athletes out there, you might be interested to learn what they do:
