I certainly can't make any decision for you but would like to comment on some doctors attitudes. I know that all
in all doctors spend much time and money getting trained to become M.D.'s. I admire that and feel it is a good
thing to have a strong work ethic and hopefully the attitude to help and heal people. My experience with different
doctors, many, many of them through the years, is that something happens to many of them sometime between the
training and the shingle being hung up. Our family doctor is not one who has been affected by this attitude I am
speaking of. He has a sincere desire to help and befriend his patients. He will listen to many of my ideas and
in many cases say that they have merit, even though not conventional in the medical community. He always comes
down on the side of caution and is conservative in his recommeding surgery. I trust him and believe he cares for
my family and my well being. This is not usual anymore however. Unfortunately many doctors seem to like to think
they are almost God like and will almost throw fits to get their way. That is including saying that we have no choices
other than the ones they offer. I have a back doctor who deals only with my back. I am forced by my insurance
company to only see him for my condition. He is a first class jerk. Pompous and is almost a dictator. He has given
up on my back and says the only thing is pain meds...I mean narcotics, bad ones. And he is willing to write
perscriptions that would kill a big strong healthy person. I have learned what to do with him and this is what I do.
At one point I really wanted traction for my back, he said no, it was not going to help and he would never let me
have any. So I waited about 2 weeks and went back to him. I updated him on how I was doing, not well by the way
and then I said " I think you are so smart and I was wrong, when you said I should have traction for my back, I
finally think you were right, so I'll do what you want me to do and do it." He couldn't grab his pad to write the
permission out for me to have the traction. He said, " Oh great, this is what you need. See you just have to listen
to me" I smiled sweetly and left with what I wanted. I told our family doctor what I did and he laughed till he was
sick. I said I hope you don't think I'm bad now, and he said no not at all.....you did need traction and now you
found a way to get it.
The reason I'm telling you this is that there is a problem with doctors and their attitudes, so unless you know
that your doctor is a man of great conscience and heart, maybe you should not listen to the dread he is trying
to place on you. I feel very sad that you have to go through this fear from them, real or other wise. Just don't
forget that these guys are not always on the level and feel threatened very easily and especially if you told him/them
of your being able to help yourself. That is enough to put them over the edge, don't forget you are challenging
their identity. And then there is the God role some like to play. But there is a real God and he is there to listen
to what you say and is concerned about every aspect of your life. Ask Him his opinion and ask that He gives you
wisdom, He will. In the mean time consider a liver flush. Have a friend come over if you are scared and hold your
hand. Let us know what you decide and whatever we are here for you. God Bless and don't be afaid....J 2
