Looks like you got some great feedback.

Are you not very familiar with avocados? If not, now is a good time to get familiar with them! They are great!

You just cut them in half and scoop the inside out with a spoon, no steaming necessary.
For a basic spread, you can just mash up the pulp with a fork and then spread it onto your bread. Or you can add a little salt and lemon juice, maybe a pinch of cayenne pepper. I'm sure that if you search the internet, you can find plenty of recipes.
