I had a bad attack several weeks ago as I was finishing lunch. Horrible pain over entire stomach but centering under right ribs. It lasted until late that night. Just had an ultra sound last week, where they found one "large" stone. I think it's old, because I have been on an almost fat free diet for several years. (No saturated fat, and only olive oil and fish and borage oils.)I asked how large, but my doctor didn't know - he didn't have the 'picture', but I will get it and find out. My main problem is that I am afraid to take the Epsom Salts . I took 2 tbsp. in 2 oz. water a few days after the attack, in preparation for the cleanse. However, I had diarrhea 15 times that day and have had it ever since.....that's been several weeks. It had just started to get better, when I had to take a very strong antibiotic, (Levaquin) for a urinary tract infection, and since then, the diarrhea has been even worse. I have an appointment with a surgeon later this month, because my doctor says the stone is too large to pass. (As I said I will found out how big.) BUT, I don't want the surgery unless absolutely necessary, but I'm also worried about having to pass a 2" stone, if that's how big it turns out to be. Regardless, I still have the diarrhea problem. Should I go ahead and do the cleanse with the Epsom Salts , even though I've had diarrhea for weeks already, or should I forego the Epsom Salts ? If I forego the epsom salts and the stone is huge, I won't have the help of the epsom salts to dilate the bile duct. Has anyone here passed a huge stone without the epsom salts, and if so did it pass ok? Or, even with the epsom salts, will a huge stone pass ok?
