Why do you have a need to belittle and ridicule Christianity?
Because Christians are meddling in my life. Stop trying to force your (hypocritical) viewpoint on me through legislation or other means, and I stop caring what you do. I couldn't care less that your lifelong dream is to be a slave to Jesus. Stop trying to enslave me, too, and I have no quarrel with you.
My guess is that you have a need to redeem your conscience, or is it that you're ego is offended because Christians are courageous enough to face truth?
Huh?
Tell us how it is that all the "GOOD" people ignore the Catholic abuse of children and jump on the bandwagon against Michael Jackson.
When a Protestant brings up Catholics, it's not much different from Republicans bringing up Democrats, as if two wrongs make a right. This isn't a Catholics versus Protestants issue, and it isn't a "gay sex is wrong" issue. This is "gosh, see how Christians have blinded themselves by choosing yet another hypocrite for a leader".
I guess the mob mentality is safer and hypocrisy unites all of those who have a need to CALL themselves GOOD.
Good -- the new Evil. All joking aside, to what mob mentality do you refer? The new Jesus Camp movie should provide all the evidence of "mob mentality" and who's employing it -- you can even see Haggard in that movie!
Fair play demands that you not DISCRIMINATE, so belittle the Catholics also and the hypocrites, and all those who have the mob mentality and everyone else in the world who does anything wrong, and all those who violate dress codes, etiquette codes and have bad table manners, etc.
It's the hypocrisy that's the issue. It ain't dress codes, and your attempt to diminish the significance of the hypocrisy by likening it to violating a dress code is transparent.
The Catholic church's coverup of priestly pederasty is considerably more vile than this issue, for sure. Major League stuff versus Haggard's not-even-amateur. Haggard is accused by a gay hooker of having a relationship for three years. I couldn't care less that two men had consensual sex, even if it was paid for. But the most powerful man in American evangelical Christendom, a man who champions the fight against homosexuals, engaged in a long-term homosexual relationship?
The point isn't the sex. The point is all the anti-gay Christians got fooled yet again (assuming this is true) by a leader who will happily condemn others for the acts he himself performs because doing so gets him into a position of power.
And you'll keep doing it, too. Pick another charismatic, vocal leader to replace him. It's a guarantee that the leader you pick will be guilty of the act he most vocally condemns in others. Round and round you'll go...
By the way, I just found out that Haggard has either resigned or was forced to resign. I've also seen a film of Haggard after the fact of his resignation here. He says some rather odd things in the video there. I'm not sure what to make of it, but it's looking more like the accusations are true.
