I have exactly the same experience as you have..with my first mirena i experienced joint swelling and even specialist could not find the cause of the swelling ...done all the blood and fluid test...still could not get any result, done x-rays everything is fine....and at the end ,my doctor just gave up and ask me to stick with the anti-inflammatory tabets and see how it goes...and three doctors coult not come to a conclusion what it is...for me at that time i was not aware that it could be the coil and had time i thought i was pregnant as my stomach was amost about to pop out and had all the symptoms of irritability, Depression and etc....so on my first coil i didn't really blame the coil but when it was taken and inserted another one, this all becoming more obvious that this coil is causing me trouble as since i had it my weight shoot up for no reason and my moods is unbelievably so bad and pains every where, my breast so tender and joint started again and i have occasional block outs..and this severe headache and pain on the neck....so i have an appointment tomorrow to remove this and i am gonna have a word with my doctor and make them aware of a possible consequences on having them and their obligation to let the people who manufacture this coil of the real experiences of women who uses this not listen to GPs that didn't have them on and all they have is their book and knowledge about the coil but not living with it...so if i were you, book to remove it and have a try of aromatherapy using some essential oils that relieves pain and arrest bleeding...i do aromatherapy and i have patient who have problems with their period and i was able to sort them out...it takes 2 to 4 months before it become regular but depend how you react to the treatment...it is relaxing and at the same time natural healing...or maybe refexology would do to you but i would prefer aromatherapy as oils are more effective.
