What you call proof is not proof at all, but it is faith.   I will not argue with faith, as people are likely to belief in all kinds of junk, but do not call it proof, because it is not.  As I mentioned before, there are many "cures" that have persisted over time, just out of sheer social and cultural inertia.   Many of those now thankfully no longer practice because medical science was able to show that they were ineffective, and there was a better way.   Ubiquity is also not proof, it only suggest to the gullability of people, like the ubiquity of horoscopes, rabitt's foot or other fetishes with supernatural powers.   That you think so, indicates to me that you do not fully understand the concept of Proof.

If a million people do a foolish thing, it still remains a foolish thing to do.

If science could be manipulated as easily as you suggest, then your companies could fund a study that would yield the outcome they were looking for.   That is just not the case.   Industry is not the sole source of funding for research, but  govt, universities, private philatropic institutions contribute the majority of the money.    the NAD process is very strict and the type of cover up you suggest is highly unlikely.   Secondly most of the funding toward new drugs turns out to be an absolute waste of money, the drug of interested never even passes its intial trials.

Proof is proof, Mr. Quack.  What you have is faith.
