You can find "alarmist" stuff like this no matter the protocol, It is up to the individual to educate themselves as to how things "actually work" and make their own intelligent and informed choices. Either this person must not be refering to the MC or really has no clue that the MC provides lots of vitamins and minerals and glucose for fuel. At the recomended max 12 drinks one would be consuming 1200 calories. Hardly what you would call starving.
The one thing that I completely agree is that no form of fasting should be used to loose weight. Then that statement only holds true only if the person does not understand how fasting works and the required lifestyle change and mainteneace required after a fast.
Unfortunately fasting and more specfically the MC has hit the mainstream in the gossip celebrity rags and the MC is now more generally used as the latest new fad weightloss diet instead of the "cleanse" that it and any other forms of fasting were designed to be. I was around from before the MC hit the gossip rags with the Robyn Quivers story. Right after that story was published the forum just about became useless with the incesant cackling about "how much did you loose today" and people asking ridiculous stuff like "can you eat pork rinds while doing the MC" OI!.
The Fasting for weightloss forum had to be created to maintain some semblance of the actual purpose of the MC and move the cackling and whining over to the FFW forum. The thing about the Quivers story was that she really did the MC after David Blaine turned her on to it to help with some IBS like illness that was threatening her life but all the rags rags mailny concentrated on was the the weightloss and hardly mentioned her actual purpose of doing the MC in the first place..
