My examination of the cause of "white tongue syndrom" has me a little perplexed. Apxr, I am sure you are already well ahead of the game in this regard--[I think you even hinted this to me].
The "white stuff" which I thought was chemical in nature, is in fact a bacteria, and consequent secretions. Whether this bacteria is common to our body, is unknown to me at this time. What I do know, is that it produces gass, and secretes oil of some sort.
I took a sample of the bacteria, and added water and india ink. Then I placed a small amount on a round paper filter, spinning at high speed on a disc. The paper was then placed in petri-dish with neutrient. It grew very quickly 24H. I took samples from areas starting with the epicenter and worked out to the parimeter. The "main germs" in the center were at earliest stages of developement with single nucleous. They eventually became bigger as I moved outward. On the periphery there were other types of larger bacteria. The "primary" bacteria developed into small rod-type, low motility. I suspect there may be evidence of pleomorphism, but cannot be sure unless I do more extensive testing with a variety of growth mediums.
I believe this bacteria is a by-product of parasitic manifestation. The purpose of this may be a nerve-toxin. This is my instinctual feeling. The odour causes immediate reaction to eyes. It also may be used for adhesion and or slime coat protection.
These are speculations and it is WAY too early to be sure. Shroom
