Yes, the rice bowl comes out like an insert.
I got mine a year ago so I don't know if the models are the same.
If, by "the newer one", you mean the one that is listed just under the "Miracle" one on the same page, note that it says it comes with two stainless steel steaming trays BUT the rice bowl is non-stick. "For cleaning"? I really don't know why anyone would need a non-stick coating for a rice bowl. Honestly, after I cook my rice, I put the bowl in the sink with a little water for about 5-10 minutes, and it wipes right out. We make rice about 4-5 times per week, and my Miracle looks almost as good as new.
Here's a great rice recipie for everyone:
2/3 cup sweet brown rice
1 1/2 cup water
cook it in your rice cooker, when it's finished let it cool and sprinkle a small amount of brown rice vinegar and about 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt and mix it up. Set it aside to let it cool.
In a separate bowl, mix about 2 teaspoons miso and 2 teaspoons sesame oil
Take 3 untoasted nori full-sized sheets and cut them in half
Take a piece of nori and spread the miso/oil mix like mayo on it
Put the rice on and roll it like a sushi roll, but make sure the rice is just barely warm because you don't want to cook the nori. If the rice was slightly warm, the nori roll will stay together better than if the rice was completely cooled off. I have sometimes dipped my finger in water to seal the end of the nori roll.
These rolls taste better if you wait at least an hour or two for the miso/sesame mix to blend with the rice and nori so you get an even flavor.
My kids eat these for lunch at least twice every week, sometimes four times per week. They are so easy to put in a lunchbox. They never complain about being bored of them.
They taste good cold or at room temperature, so they are great as h'ordeurves or to bring to a potluck. We eat the same batch for (up to) 2 days. They may stay good for longer, but they never stick around that long, so I don't know.
