We just went through this. Or are at the end of it. The last bloodtest was ok.
The big help was that we got about 5-6 bags of fluid and they taught my husband how to give it to him. The dog would just sit with me on the couch and my husband put the needle in the loose skin of his neck, he did not even feel it. I had a loose leash around his snout, the nurse taught us this too. We did not have a muzzle. I also had his choker on and his leash just to let him know we were in control. It was almost tempting to leave these last things of, but decided since things were working why fool with it.
Look a little lower for my question. I got 2 good answers. The 1st one showed what to feed him. The 2nd one told which book to buy, which I did. I ended up buying homeopatic medication, but it came so late I never used it.
We cut out all the regular food and treats.
In the morning I give 1 soft boiled organic egg, low fat cottage cheese, mixed with cole slaw. At night canned pumkin, salmon or mackerel. For treats I give him organig wheat pita bread, so it makes us feel better that we can hand feed him.
As supplements I give him milkthistle and a senior blend (he is almost 11). See a message about the link too.
The hospital wanted to keep him but I don't want to do that to him. Why put that extra stress on him. Besides all the testing was already $1200. And that even with not going for everything. These hospitals love tests.
Hope this helps,
Johanna
