My dog has a severe form of tonsilitis, and the tonsils are so inflamed, that they keep blocking her airway passages. Yesterday, she wouldn't stop gagging for 20 minutes-I honestly thought she would die from breathing difficulties. I threw some of Dr. Schulze 's cayenne pepper and echineachea plus into her mouth-it may have stopped her gagging, as she stopped gagging a few minutes later (keep in mind she gagged 20 minutes non stop before giving her the herbal tinctures). I still took her to the vet. as I don't want her to have another life threatening attack like what happened yesterday. He put her on Antibiotics , and gave her a steroid injection to reduce the inflammation-I don't like drugs, but in emergencies, I agree. I am also giving her probiotics, so that she will still have good bacteria.

I really want to cure her tonsilitis though. I don't want it to come back, especially if I am not home, and she has one of these suffocating attacks. Does anyone know of a herbal remedy that can be given to dogs to cure tonsilitis? I was thinking of giving her olive leaf extract, once she is finished her medication. Does anyone have any other suggestions for curing tonsilitis in dogs, with natural remedies? Also, if I give her olive leaf extract, does anyone know what dosage to give to dogs? She's a small dog.

Thanks for the advice.
