I was on The Master Cleanse for 10 days. Did the cleanse dilligently, following all the instructions down to a tee, all the right amounts, did the flushes, etc. Loved the whole experience. But the last few days of the diet, I had trouble drinking the lemonade drink, had to force myself to do so, but really just wanted water instead. I slowly came off the diet, also as prescribed with the soup broth, then the soup, etc. Once I started eating solid food, I had problems. I never felt good eating. After a month of this I went to the doctor. Turns out I developed an ulcer and my stomach was bleeding. Full of blood. I had to get a small tear in my stomach cauterized. The doctor believes it was because of the cleanse. (He is a traditional doctor...) Did I have a predisposition? Well, I've always been a healthy person, never more than 5-10 pounds over my desired weight, if that. But I did also always dilute my orange juice with water, because I always felt uncomfortable drinking it straight. So was this my predisposition? Possibly. Your call.
