I wonder how do Acacias perform in winter in other parts of the world (basically north hemisphere)
Has anybody had any Acacia in their garden?
What are the temperatures that they tolerated or died at?
Here in northern Greece I have tried different species of Acacia but finally after 2 to 4 year they all died due to frost
Acacia dealbata(3 stock building tall) died at -19 oC(-2 oF)accompanied by heavy snowfall
Acacia bon accueil died at -12 oC (10 oF)
Acacia floribunda died at -10 oC (14 oF)
Acacia saligna(cyanophilla) died at -7 oC (19 oF)
Acacia retinoides died at -15 oC(5 oF)
I tried some tips to help them over the winter, but to no avail
for example I sometimes sprayed them with copper or pinoline to protect them from frost
I also didn't water them to be hardened well for the winter
I love Acacias too much and I'm going to plant new species next year.
Is there anybody that possess/ed Acacias?
Just share your experience with me
Greetings from the Mediterranean
