Some forms of limestone are not much different in formation history than are salt deposits...
Limestone rocks are sedimentary rocks that are made from the mineral calcite (calcium carbonate) which formed from the beds of evaporated seas and lakes and from sea animal shells.
Quite literally, life today is living on the death of the past... completing the circle.
