Let me just say, I did not even read the message part of this post but from the title am alarmed.
Although I agree with going with the option of home birth, not all women are able to.
Women who have breech babies, placenta previa, mulitiple babies are at risk.
Another thing is you dont want to be air lifted in an awkward life threatening situation either.
After my recent delivery, and after taking percautions ( i.e. no pitocin before birth, supplements, healthy diet, red rasperry leaf tea, waiting to clamp/cut the cord until after the cord stops pulsating, waiting for the placenta to deliver naturally, etc )
I lost 3 liters of blood. The life was escaping me literally.
Also before this delivery I had to have 4 units of blood in a transfusion.
Some women are able to have a home delivery and I encourage it. But we have to remember those who cannot.
The staff was excellent, they followed my birth plan with respect, they even taped one copy of it on the baby's bed.
One nurse walked in and said it looked like a war zone!
Blessings, and I hope you take this the right way.
