Probably those who created those sites are out DOING, rather than sitting at computers. It is obvious what they like best, isn't it?

One obstacle with some seniors is, of course, physical labour. Yet, they can contribute in many other valuable ways. Ask the parents and grandparents of young people who are into this. It puts heart into the project; and who knows what other seniors will become involved.

I found a project study in southeastern B.C. (on the internet). The project was a large seniors' housing complex. They priced it out in straw-bale, and pronounced that there was no saving in costs.

Two things bother me about that...

...If the cost was the same, why not choose straw-bale?

...Why was the cost of straw-bale so high? Could it be that the cost of materials magically expanded to fit the funds available?

Have you seen that town in Saskatchewan where they are systematically replacing civic buildings with pleasingly architectual straw-bale and beams?

I read an account of a woman in Arizona who decided to build her own straw-bale. She was often exhausted, but her friends came through for her.

Diaries of such projects are popular.

I wonder if http://www.davidsuzuki.com is collecting stories...or http://www.ashoka.org

Thank you so much for all the links. I will spend happy hours reading there.

You know anyone who plans tours for seniors? Just an idea.
