The two prevous post are right, "external" trust is very important in any relationship. But I think "internal" trust is even more important. If you are not able to trust yourself, how can you trust anyone else?
I would recommend reading the book "Getting the love you want" By Harville Hendrix. It will help you see why YOU have a "trust" issue to begin with.
I think your relationship can workout if both you and your partner are willing and ready to face your issues....together. This problem, if you can call it that, is a great opportunity for you and your loved one to grow closer together and help each other with your views and expectations of a meaningful balanced relationship that offers, growth, freedom, confidence and most of all "trust".
And if you do decided to leave this relationship, you will just have the same problem again in the next. Maybe, your next partner won't, but you still will. You'll be thinking, I cheated in a previous relationship, maybe my new beau will too. It will keep on going and going until you face YOUR issues.
If your current other and you have a great time together then you are off to a great start. This is probably going to sound terrible, but relationships are like cars. If you maintenance the car (relationship) every few thousand miles, the engine(love, support, understanding, etc) will last you for decades. But if you let the engine build up with dirt and grim (trust issues, non-communication, non-supportiveness, etc)the engine will go out on you. And guess what? You'll either buy a new car (new relationship) or spend money fixing the old car (old relationship).
And if you haven't learned your lesson (issues) with either the new or old car, you will have the same old engine problems again.
So go out and hug your car, give it a good wash, vaccuum it out. Then sit in the car and let it know how you are going to maintentance it every few thousand miles. I guarantee, you will get great gas milage out of it.
You can do it! "trust yourself" for a change.
God Bless...
