I found foam to be the least toxic, and when combined with watching your cycle (when a woman desires sex the most is when to be the most careful, about half way through your cycle), I had good luck with it. A diaphram worked well too, and it can be inserted in advance and taken out later, so it is not there all the time, which is good. It is not difficult to use.
Most of the foams gave me an itchy rash, but Delften (or something like that) did not. (It's been a long time) You have to experiment which one works for you. The sponge was horrible, at least for me as it was so irritating.
There is a chinese method of the man pressing on a acupressre point to stop ejacualtion, which is supposed to be good for for him to do as ejacualtion is said to be draining for a man's energy, but my husband was sloppy with it and so IT DID NOT WORK. I don't like relying on men, as they are not the ones who pay the price if they "forget", so they are not as motivated, and there can be underlying control issues involved, too.
It seems to me that most methods of birthcontrol can be pretty dangerous, although most get away with it. I have not heard of anything new under the sun that sounds all that safe to me.
