There are so many different needs when it comes to colon cleaning its hard to know what will work for any individual. What worked for me a few years ago does not work now because I have nerve damage in my lower back and legs and that has also affected my colon. Generally speaking,I would first do a short term flushing with either Epsom salts or an Oxypowder type product to clear the colon. Then I would go to a colon toner, like Barefoot's LLB or a product with similar ingredients, this might take a week or longer to work. Unlike many people on this forum though, I do not believe in the long term use of any product with senna or Cascara Sagrada. Use just long enough to get regulated. The same goes for fiber based cleanses. For those who can use psyllium, it does work to sweep the colon clean, but long term use can cause abrasions and even harm the villi in the small intestine. I would never suggest going more than two weeks on any cleanse without a break. Normal bowel movements without any assistance should be our goal; but it can take a long time to clear out a highly congested colon. Ideally I think we should first flush (magnesium in some form), then stimulate (senna, Cascara Sagrada or turkey rhubarb), then sweep (psyllium or flax seed) for the best success. Then eat plenty of raw natural foods and the colon should never need another major cleanse. By the way, the very best and most essential thing for colon health is plenty of pure clean water. If the body is not hydrated it cannot cleanse itself. Water bathes and cleanses us inside and out, but as in all things, it must be used correctly.
