I've always found this fascinating--that O type can be the "universal donor"-
but can only receive from 'its own kind'. Sounds so metaphorical, good fodder for depth work--and a good basis for Science fiction.
The whole blood type thing is very interesting. I remember when I was pregnant and my friend was too-she is RH negative--crazy to think that your own body will in effect try to destroy the baby--whereas it seems that what might really be happening is a kind of 'war' with the father. In this case, the mother has never been able to come to being friends with the father who is her long-time ex. She and the child also never really bonded. No real walls of hate or anything, but he was always an imposition to her, and it was hard to deal with the fact that she didn't feel bonded.
I never knew how to help her with that, because it was so foreign to my experience--it almost seemed as if my happiness and bonding were an attack on her...
I wonder if anyone has studied the dynamics of father/mother/child when the mom is RH neg.
