I've been reading in an Oriental Diagnosis book and it breaks the whites of the eyes up into sections, blah, blah, and goes on to list 3 "red" issues, including red color from expanded blood capillaries (circulatory & respiratory function disdorders "caused by" too much yin food/drink), red lines from some sort of issue in the corresponding area of the body (like shock, accident), and then red spots "from" circulatory stagnation in the corresponding body areas.
