Hi WT,
>>>>>>OMG!!!!!! How can those Christians stoop so low to spread the word!!!!? How dare those Christians to think their beliefs are the right way to enter heaven!!!<<<<<<
You miss my point. I am not saying Christians are wrong to do this, just that BECAUSE they do this, they will narurally draw fire, because they are implying that every other way is wrong.
>>>>>The only person that can convert you is yourself. Nobody can force you into their religion except islam.<<<<<
Yes, of course you are right that someone cannot be converted unles it is their desire to be so. However, you have to admit that a big part of Christianity lies in trying to persuade others to accept Christ as their savior, and the goal is to save as many as possible. Regardless of the reason for it (which I believe is a genuine and sincere desire to bring others into the light), it is a part of being a Christian. And Christians' right to say what they want to is in direct conflict with others' rights not to have to hear it.
>>>>>Return to Christianity? You know the word already and hopefully the meaning. Its up to you to aspire to the word, or aspire to practitioners of whatever.<<<<<
Not sure I am following you here, sorry. Sure it is up to me to aspire to anything, but a good example certainly helps.
Another point I wanted to make was that, if a religious group makes a practice of labeling people as wrong or bad (for example, being gay is wrong, being pro-choice is wrong), that stance is going to raise some ire in the targeted people. No one wants to hear they are bad or sinful, and the natural response to that is to fight back. To say, in essence, "oh, and YOUR poop doesn't stink? Well, let me point out to you the many ways in which it does!" And that is where the criticism of the church comes in. IF you are coming from a place of righteousness, people are going to scrutinize you to see if you are truly derserving of coming from that place. And probably the biggest thing (for me) is the political activity of the church, as I see the church trying to influence the secular laws in the US and I don't appreciate it. People don't like seeing their rights legislated out of existence. You may say the church has a perfect right to do this lobbying, and I will say perhaps so, but it is still one of the reasons that the church draws criticism.
