Good Point Zack.

Bernard Jensen, long standing "expert" on bowel management STRONLY supports (no pun intended ha ha) 'squating". His numerous reason are menationed in his various books. He implicates our modern "Throne" as an accomplice to bowel related disfunctions.

He suggests getting a small bench that one can use to squat from.
