Dear Babycakes,

I understand the pain you are going through. You feel that you have committed an unforgivable atrocity. You may also feel that the only “decent” thing you can do now is suffer about it, that your “redemption” lies in complete suffering, maybe till the day you stand face to face with your creator. That maybe if you can only punish yourself enough, your slate will be cleaned and erased. But dear, in God’s eyes you are not the “scum of the earth”. You are his very own precious child, created in His image, dearer to him than your own children to yourself. You may disapprove of something that one of your children did, but do you love them any less because of it? Do you really think that God wants you to suffer like this?
He has already forgiven you, long time ago when you felt that very first remorse in your heart. Now the time has come to forgive yourself.
And your precious baby. Your baby knows what you went through and what you are still going through now, how much you have suffered on its behalf. How do you think it feels when it sees you living in this self-imposed hell of guilt?
My dear, given the way others have treated you in the past, you may feel that is the treatment you deserve. After all, if you deserved a different kind of treatment why would they have abused and violated you like that? But dear, you too, like every single other human being on earth, are loved completely and eternally by God. You are as precious as the most precious stone, as beautiful as the most beautiful thing ever created, a soul whose return God eagerly awaits like the father of the prodigal son, not to scold and punish, but to hold in his arms and to simply be with. My friend, God would not trade you for anything or anybody in the world, you are irreplaceable. You are His one and only “Babycakes”, without you He will never be complete. Without your peace of mind, joy and happiness, He will never be able to experience complete peace of mind, joy and happiness. Could you if you were in His position with one of your children?
The time has come for you to release yourself from this self-imposed prison and chamber of torture and to rejoin the living. Forgive yourself and give yourself permission to move into the light. You have been through hell, now allow yourself to step out of it and start gazing at heaven and peek through its doors. Because dear, that is where you are ultimately going.
