Just an update ... I had the Mirena removed about 2 weeks ago, and I'm starting to feel better already. Still tired, but less so, and I've already lost 5 pounds. The bleeding has completely stopped. The first couple of days after I had it removed, I bled heavily, but when it stopped, it stopped (quite a relief after bleeding nearly every single day since insertion). I've also noticed a LOT less bloating and swelling (my feet would actually swell up around my sandal straps after standing a while). Removal was not painful at all, although it did take my doctor a while to locate the string. Thank you all so much for sharing your stories here ... I wouldn't have blamed the IUD for my symptoms and would still be experiencing them if not for this forum!
