I guess some of us are just not cut out for mirena. I am one of those people, I think.
I have a history of major Depression and bipolar disorder, but even my psychiatrist believed that the mirean would be ok because the progesterone is so localized. So my ob/gyn inserted the device in late May, hoping that mirena would succeed where pills failed (they made me depressed and angry ).

What he really wanted to help with was the very painful periods I have now. I respect this man and believe his intentions were good, but the never ending cramping along with the profound sadness and irritability make me feel that I am probably among an unlucky percentage.
In a way I feel that I should stick this out some more, but then I think of a statistic I read regarding the pill: the mood issues surrounding the pill, don't get better, but rather get worse, according to the newest Our Bodies Ourselves. So I have an appt to get it removed on Monday and I guess I will keep it and use condoms from now on. Maybe I will get a sex drive again.

I am rather disappointed and keep wondering if I am not just imagining things.....

I guess that's why I'm glad I found this board.
